multi story was created in 2000 by Bill Buffery and Gill Nathanson.
Bill Buffery both performed and directed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, was Deputy Director of the National Youth Theatre and was Artistic Director of Orchard Theatre Company for eleven years.
Gill Nathanson trained as a Drama Teacher and worked with some of the UK's top Education and Community theatre companies before joining Orchard Theatre Company in 1989. As well as playing leading roles with the company, she ran three Youth Theatres and an extensive workshop programme.
As the name implies, multi story are centrally concerned with the enduring power of story - and with communicating the richness of the old stories to new audiences, both young and old.
“The children and staff just love hearing and
sharing the stories you tell us. You have
enriched many children’s lives, thank you -
see you next year.”
Harbertonford Primary
“The children are always fascinated by the way
the actors can become so many characters by
adding a hat or a prop. The way the clothes
chest transformed into so many things was
a popular topic of conversation in class. We
used the production to stimulate writing
activities. We hope to see you next year.”
Winslow Combined School
“As always the physicality of your performance really brought the story alive for everyone. A brilliantly enjoyable afternoon.”
